Welcome New Members

The following players have joined our member family:

We are very happy to have you, and hope that you will have many great matches and pleasant memories at our club.

Easter Sale, April 12-20

The annual storewide Easter Sale is scheduled for Apr 12-20.  All Women’s and Men’s Apparel will be reduced 20-50%. Shoes, rackets and accessories will be discounted 20% & 25%. 

Ladies Summer Quadrant League

In addition to our ongoing in-house leagues, there will be a Summer Ladies Quadrant League for all Northwest Florida Tennis Assoc. players, who want to stay in shape and like to mix with other team players.  This league is scheduled for Thursday mornings 8am, starting June 5th and will go for 8 weeks. (No play on Jul 3rd).  The cost of this league is $15 for members and $80 for non-members.  (New balls will be provided).  Sign up sheets will be posted May 1st and spaces are limited.

Junior Development

The 2003 Spring Junior Development is well underway.  We will take a break for the week of Spring Break (April 21 – 25).  The week of April 28th will be used for any rainout make-ups.  There will be a free weeklong tournament for all Junior Development participants during the week of May 5th – 9th.  Please let Doug know if you are interested.  The summer schedule will be available the week of spring break.

Player to Watch

The player to watch for this newsletter is Paul Stauskas.  Paul was able to achieve a season high ranking of 31 in the Florida section in the Boy’s 10 singles category.  During this time, Paul also played many tournaments in the 12’s division, compiling a 22 – 4 record in the combined events.  Of the last 11 tournaments he has played, Paul has won 8 of them and lost in the finals of yet another one.  Paul Stauskas definitely deserves our attention.

Daily News Junior Aces

The 2003 Daily News Junior Aces tournament is scheduled for May 10 – 12.  The entry forms should be available by the second week in April.  This is always one of the best tournaments of the year.  Sign-up early to reserve your spot.

A.G. Edwards / Habitat Tourney

Bluewater Bay Tennis Center is pleased to announce that we will continue to host a benefit tournament for Habitat for Humanity.  This years' sponsors will be Chris Poate and Andy Bonjean with A.G. Edward’s.  The format for this years' event will be NTRP with events in singles, doubles, and mixed.  The tournament dates are May 16 – 18, with entry forms available by April 15th.

REMINDER:

NEVER LEAVE YOUR RACKET IN YOUR CAR. THE EXTENSIVE HEAT DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS WILL CAUSE YOUR RACKET TO WARP AND YOUR STRINGS TO BREAK.
