Lakeland
Once again, the Bluewater Bay Tennis Center was well represented at the USA Team Tennis Championship held in Lakeland. Not only did many of our juniors attend, they all did quite well. We would like to recognize the following club juniors who were on teams that were able to place well enough to progress to the Georgia/Florida Challenge in Jacksonville in October:
Nolan and Adrienne Roesler, Kellon and Ian Lindsey, Matt and Doug Wercenski, James Biernacki, Stephanie Brown, and Chelsey Leugers. Congratulations and good luck in Jacksonville!
Ladders
All the ladders are set and ready for play. This month’s ladder leaders are:
Men’s Ladder – Mike DeAmicis
Junior Ladder – Adrienne Roesler
Ladies’ Ladder – all the ladies are being shy so far
Remember, if you are on the ladder, it is a challenge ladder and you must call and challenge opponents to get points.
Junior Development
The Fall Junior Development Program has started. If you have not signed-up yet and want to participate, call Doug or Mary Catherine and they can tell you the appropriate days and times for each child. We have also started a travel team to take interested juniors to out-of-town tournaments. Ask Doug for more details.
Player to Watch
Bluewater Bay Tennis
Center is announcing a new newsletter feature – the PLAYER TO WATCH program. Each newsletter, we will highlight a player from our club who is
worthy of our attention. We are pleased to announce that the first recipient is
Brandon Vucovich. Over the past year, Brandon was able to reach the semi-finals
of the Pensacola Junior Championships, the finals of the Junior Winter Classic,
the Bluewater Bay Junior Championships, and the Junior Aces Tournament, as well
as winning the Panama City Racquet Club Junior Championships and the Pensacourt
Junior Summer Sizzler. For his efforts, Brandon was able to increase his
Florida Sectional ranking from a season high 154 last year to an impressive 47
this year. Congratulations Brandon, you truly are a player to watch.
